Postcards from the Edge (2025)
Dividing Lines, Connecting Spaces
This exhibition includes work by six local artists looking at themes of division and connection in Oxford and hopes to bring greater understanding of the issues residents face as well as suggesting some solutions on how tensions can be eased, connections established, and the city improved for all.
In Postcards from the Edge, postcards are used to investigate times of rapid social and technological change in Oxford. The personal postcards created look both backwards and forwards to reflect the changing dynamic across a city already divided by social, educational and economic barriers. They consider what connects and divides us and how those barriers can be crossed. Images within the postcards depict areas of the city that have been deconstructed and reconstructed and explore ideas of belonging and access. Whilst others reflect on previous barriers in the city, the Cutteslowe Wall, with emblems that represent the city rather than the University
